India is a land of diversity. Dance forms of India include various styles of dances such as Classical dance and folk dance. Each of the dance is originated from a different place and represents the culture and tradition of place.
-Ghoomar, Rajasthan : Ghoomar is the most famous Rajasthani dance performed by Rajasthani women. Ghoomar is a community dance performed by Rajput Women dedicating to their spouse. The dance is mainly performed in marriage ceremonies and in festivals like teej and Gangaur.
-Kathakali, Kerala : Kathakali is a story play or dance drama. It is an extremely colorful dance form in which participants wear beautiful ornaments, crowns, costumes. It is the type of dance form in which characters never speak. The main feature of the dance form is the hand gesture language, facial expressions with lots of drama.
-Bharatnatyam, Andhra Pradesh : This is one of the famous dance forms of India. The movement formed in this dance is mostly either along triangles or straight lines. The dancers wear traditional costumes consisting of saris, jewellery, hair ornaments.
-Kathak, Uttar Pradesh : Kathak basically means a storyteller and it is a famous dance form that belongs to UttarPradesh. The main focus of the kathak dance is the eyes and the foot movements.
-Bhangra, Punjab : Bhangra is the traditional dance form of Punjab. The traditional dance is performed during the Vaisakhi festival that celebrates the harvest. The dance form has a very energetic and lively tone. The dresses worn by male and female dancers are totally different from each other.
-Garba, Gujarat : It is a type of folk dance in which beautifully decorated sticks are used. The dance has to be performed in circle and there must be claps and clicks.
